Best city for Singles in 2007..Who is it???
August 23rd, 2007 by eduardo
Over the past few years as I have reached the prime time to be a single male, the early twenties, and I have been ever so interested in what the best places to meet single women were. Well if you didn’t already know, Forbes.com makes a list of the Top50 or so cities in the US for singles using various things to judge such as Culture, Nightlife, Coolness and population of Singles amongst other things.
Take a second and try to guess who was #1 is for 2007 ……
…… that’s right baby, San Francisco is #1 for Singles!!!!
“Our seventh annual Best Cities For Singles contains some significant changes. First, because we are using a different U.S. census definition of “city” this year, four cities have been removed from consideration (Charlotte, Greensboro, Nashville, and Raleigh-Durham) and have been replaced with four new cities (Jacksonville, Buffalo,Memphis and Baltimore). Second, for the first time in four years there is a new number one city: San Francisco. New York City also places in the top two for the first time.”
Over the past few years that I have actually looked at the list San Francisco has always been in the top 5 but for some reason there were a few odd-ball things. Like Denver has been #1 for the past 3 years, HUH? Exactly. Well this year they decided to switch the way they determined cities to make it a little more specific. See the past few years Denver has included Boulder in its mix…and even if you have never been to Boulder you know it is the college scene for CO and therefore boosted Denver’s numbers greatly.
Now that we have a new system that I think is more accurate, of course, San Francisco has topped the charts followed closely by NYC.
Here is how we were ranked in the categories.
05 - Singles
02 - Nightlife
03 - Coolness
01 - Culture
23 - Job Growth
05 - Online Dating
20 - Cost Of Living Alone
It is a great time to be single…especially in good ol’ SF!:)
