Now, it is a little funny that I am mentioning this right after a post about not shopping but hey, what can I say. CompUSA just went out of business and they are clearing out stock. Now the prices are not that great yet as they are only from 5% - 20% off and of course anything good is only 5%. At CompUSA prices this is still more expensive than online stores. I know I know, the crazy gadget freak, who needs to know all about gadgets and gizmos and gaming the three Gs has never been to CES? Wow, that is truly amazing. Well it is unfortunately true, I have never been to a CES show even though I know many who have and even followed the last few years through live broadcasts and web blogs covering it. Well next year, I will have the distinct honor of sharing with my loyal followers (tess) the experience I have at my first show. If you don’t know anything about CES I suggest you take a gander at their website http://www.ces.org and see what all the fuss is about. (more…)
As a middle class working American, there are 2 places that I spend most of my young adult life. Those 2 places happen to be my work chair and my bed. Seeing as even on a really off day I spend at least 4 hours in both making that 8 hours every work day. If I retire at 65 (ya right!!) and lets just start it at 18 to be safe (I started working before this of course) then that means even only counting 8 hours every work day (it is usually closer to 15 hours) that means I spend at the very least 11 of those 45 years either in my bed or in my computer desk. 11 F’IN years!! Now I am not going to be one to buy a chair for work….they should provide great chairs from the start. Unfortunately I can’t control that, so we are going to move onto the other chair I spend most of my time in, my home desk chair.

We all at this point or at least most of us know what LCDs (Liquid Crystal Display) are and many of us actually own them. Whether or not they are for our computer or for home theater, LCDs are all over our houses and in our lives. So what is next…what is the future of this technology? Is it OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) display, or maybe huge 100″ TVs or possibly LCD displays on our watches? Or maybe its flexible displays without solid form……like from the Red planet??? I was scrolling through my daily alerts and what not coming across a few articles that touched on this topic and as what often happens I felt differently than everyone else about the situation.
Firstly let me explain what HD-DVD and Blu-ray are since everyone claims that nobody knows about them. HD-DVD (Toshiba) and Blu-ray (Sony) are an attempt to be the next generation of hard media, replacing today’s DVD. They are Higher capacity discs using a Blue laser in order to fit more information. This then allows them to have much greater detail and sound in the image (High Definition) as it were. So instead of watching your standard DVD which is highly compressed, you are able to watch HD content (1080p) from your disc player. If you had not already noticed, playing a DVD and then watching an HD program on your television can be quite different. (more…)
Hey All,
haha
Any gamer will tell you, the heat between hardcore backers of any of these consoles is just as bad as the heat between an Apple and a Windows user. It is an odd thing really, but people who buy and support a product usually tend to feel they must defend it for one reason or another. It happens in many parts of our lives..not just our consumer products:) (more…)
If my last post wasn’t enough to make you think I wasn’t that impressed by the iPhone. This should get your tinker going.
.“….there is another large family of devices capable of running iPhone apps: those based on the Series 60 OS. In 2005 Nokia announced a new browser for Series 60 based on Safari. Phones with that browser are shipping now, including the Nokia N75, N95, and Samsung SGH-i520.
Unlike the iPhone, Series 60 devices are not limited to web-based applications. A large market of native 3rd-party applications already exist including console emulators, multi-protocol instant messaging, IR remote controls, and much more. Series 60 also supports Java and Flash.”
You can find out more info at iFoNfo
Now, anyone of my 5 friends will tell you that I won’t exactly be the first in line the get an iPhone….in fact I probably wouldn’t wait in a line for an iPhone if they were giving them away; let alone for $2000 (over 2 years). I have to say though the blogging and news world and pretty much busting at the seems with crap about this thing so much so that I can’t ready any of my favorite RSS feeds or news sites without seeing the same damn picture over and over again. I counted 9 of my regular sites showing the new plan prices, 9!!! 3 of which don’t even cover technology!!!!!
Anyways, thats my rant about that. I won’t be posting any pictures or any prices. I may have to snap some shots of the idiots in line at the Apple store in San Francisco for everyone though or possibly the kid that gets shot when a guy steals his iPhone. (more…)
Ya, I wasn’t sure I was reading correctly either, but apparently there is a new iPod speaker coming out specifically geared at bike riders. Now I guess you could think to yourself how did this take so long, but on the other hand most bike riders want to actually hear the sound so headphones of course are usually the way that they go. I can see this possibly being pretty cool though and I have to admit I am tempted if not for the part about riding my bike and letting all of San Francisco hear my love for the Temptations but also just for hanging out or walking say in Bay to Breakers which I love so and listening to my tunes. I guess we will see how this thing turns out…
“Pedal to the metal with this water-resistant iPod speaker case that clamps to your bike frame. Handlebar mounted remote control allows for safe cycling while listening to your tunes. This speaker case is perfect for the beach, poolside, and picnics, too.”

Before I go into what this post is going to be about you should know that FTW means For The Win…which is a geek internet term for something that is awesome:) So anyways, I recently have started to use a program called Lightroom and if you are not familiar with such a program it is a media management tool geared towards photography guys such as yours truly. The great thing about programs like this is that they offer an entire development process that can’t been had in free or cheap programs such as picasa and iphoto and the likes.
I mean check this out:
